NEW REFLOW OVEN

Monday, July 26th, 2010

A new 14 zone convection reflow oven for soldering surface mounted components is now available. Optimum control of the airflow ensures stable, uniform distribution of heat and helps to keep energy costs low. Differences in thermal mass of the PCB’s being processed have no effect on the heating profile due to the low mass design of the oven interior.

The Iemme ’PLUS 14′ is now available from Blundells, and is very competitively priced. It has built in cooling and comes with a choice of mesh conveyor or pin edge conveyor (or both) so it can be used in line or as a stand alone oven.

RECLAIM SOLDER DROSS WITH SOLDABAC

Friday, July 9th, 2010

An investment in a solder recovery system to reclaim solder dross is one of the fastest ways to save money in electronics assembly.

The Blundell Soldabac costs only just over £5,000 yet it reclaims at least 50% of reusable lead free solder alloy from the dross that is scraped off the solder bath. In most cases the Soldabac pays for itself in 6 to 12 months.

Solder recovery is also an environmentally freindly activity and so it qualifies for additional capital allowance tax relief.

PVA CONFORMAL COATING MACHINES NOW HAVE FIDUCIAL CAMERA

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

PVA has added an active fiducial camera to their full range of selective conformal coating spray application machines. The new camera system enhances the positional accuracy of the PCB by aligning it against a fixed reference point on each board. Each coating cycle is corrected automatically to adjust for any misalignment.

The new camera also allows for automatic pattern verification, so the sprayed PCB can be automatically checked by the machine after the coating operation is completed. This is done by having a black UV light inside the machine. The camera scans the board to detect the coating pattern which flouresces under the UV light.

BLUNDELL TENDERS SUCCESSFULLY FOR 3 MACHINES FOR MTC PROJECT

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

I am very pleased to announce that we have been successful in tendering for three important items of equipment for the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). The MTC is a collaborative partnership between industry, universities and research and technology organisations. The MTC was formed in response to the Government’s manufacturing strategy: ”New Challenges, New Opportunities” published in September 2008.

Funding for the capital equipment for MTC came from Advantage West Midlands (AWM) and East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA). The equipment to be supplied by us at Blundell is a Dage XD7500NT X-Ray machine, an Ersa Hotflow 3/20 convection reflow oven and an IBL VAC645i in line vapour phase soldering plant.
