NEW REWORK TOOL REMOVES SMD COMPONENTS

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Ersa has just launched a new rework tool for printed circuit board repair and component removal. The Hybrid Tool, sold in the UK by Blundell is can be supplied as a hand held re-work device or as a complete low cost workstation for PCB repair.

It is intended to replace the outdated, uncontrolled hot air guns, which are still commonplace in electronics factories, despite the fact that they lack repeatability and can potentially damage board and components. The Ersa Hybrid Tool on the other hand uses safe IR heating combined with regulated hot air to deliver a controlled temperature ramp of up to 4 degrees per second to gently remove small and meduim sized surface mounted devices (SMD’s).

An integral vacuum pen is supplied to help remove the components once the solder has reached liquidous. Have a look at our website www.blundell.co.uk or call Keith Gummer on 07770 615405

LOW HUMIDITY DRY STORAGE CABINETS WELL RECEIVED

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

There has been an excellent response to our new range of Dry Storage, humidity controlled drystore cabinets. The industry has fully woken up to the fact that failure to strore sensitive electronic devices properly can result, at best in soldering defects, and at worst in device failure. The IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033B.1 standards have been adopted by most major manufacturers. Our new X-Treme series cabinets provide safe, controlled storage of electronic devices and can be used for drying, dehumidifying and safe preservation of components, asseblies, PCB’s and any sensitive electronic parts. In each cabinet there is a built in data logger which records the relative humidity in real time, and logs each door opening event and how long it lasts. The dehumidification rate is ultra fast and so is the recovery time. This cabinet really stands out as being stylishly designed and also highly efficient. Have alook at it at www.blundell.co.uk, click on Moisture Control products.
