PCB ASSEMBLY EQUIPMENT SUPPORT FROM A CENTRAL LOCATION

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It is interesting to see that one of our competitors, Speedline, has dismissed its distributor who was based on the south coast, and has appointed a new distributor for Europe who is based in Ayrshire, Scotland.

One of our great strengths at Blundell Production Equipment is our central location. From our base in Coventry, we can get to most parts of England and Wales within 2 hours. Scotland is a little further, but being near to Birmingham airport, there are regular flights to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

This ability to get to our customers, wherever they are, very quickly is very much appreciated by our customer base and we often receive feedback from customers telling us how much they appreciate our fast response.

Some of our competitors try to cover the whole of Europe from one base. Personally speaking, I fail to see how this can work, and how it can be of any use to a customer with a problem that needs immediate attention.

Christmas is upon us again, and I would like to wish all of our customers and suppliers a very happy festive season and as prosperous a  New Year in 2009 as the current economic conditions will allow.  We are closed from 6pm on 23rd December till 8am on Monday 5th January. Have a great holiday!

NEW REFLOW OVEN RANGE FROM ERSA

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Ersa have launched the new Mark 3 HOTFLOW range of convection reflow ovens. This third generation of the well established Hotflow marque features improvements in power consumption, heat transfer, heat balance and process control. It uses Ersa’s unique Multijet nozzle system to spread heat evenly within the process chamber and to achieve outstanding thermal stability. A new option on the Hotflow 3 range is to have a double, triple or even quadruple track conveyor to increase throughput. Several separate conveyors can be run through the same machine to process up to 4 rows of boards. This can mean that some manufacturers who would otherwise have to purchase two or 3 ovens can process all of their PCB’s through one machine.

SECONDHAND WAVE SOLDERING MACHINE

Friday, December 5th, 2008

In these tough economic times, secondhand equipment is becoming more attractive. But make sure that you buy from a reputable source and get service support. At Blundell Production Equipment, we are reconditioning used CMS 400 wave soldering machines, and restoring them to almost as new condition. These machines were originally manufactured by us and are between 3 and 10 years old. They are fully factory reconditioned and available with a 6 or 12 month warranty. This takes the risk out of buying secondhand, because we are always there to offer service support and technical advice. Spare parts are always available from our stock.

These used machines typically sell at less than half the cost of an equivalent new model, and they are all converted to run with lead free solder. For more information contact Paul or Neil Blundell on 0845 872 4975, or from outside the UK +44 2476 210270.

SELECTIVE SOLDERING UPDATE

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Ebso have updated their range of selective soldering machines. Now there is a full choice of point to point soldering systems with mini wave nozzle. The entry level is the Ebso 200, then there is a 350, a 400 and the new 500 modular. Programming is very easy with the EBSO Offline Editor. Gerber import pulls in CAD co-ordinates and there is  easy “point and click” identification of the joints to be soldered, with fast drag soldering of connectors.
