SMT EXHIBITION, NUREMBURG

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I’ve just got back from spending a couple of days looking around the SMT Exhibition at Nuremburg, Germany. The show was slightly smaller than usual and visitor numbers were down, but most companies put on a good show and it’s an easy exhibition to get around. It was a good chance to catch up with our main principals such as Ersa, Ebso, Dage, iPulse etc and to talk with old industry friends and associates.

Although they are suffering along with everybody else from recession, in Germany they seem to be able to retain a positive outlook and they all seem very bullish about a recovery in the second half of the year. With Productronica only 6 months away, let’s hope they are right.

My discussions with industry contacts about the National Electronics Week show at Earls Court seem to confirm our negative views on that show. Very few production equipment companies are going to be exhibiting and there does not seem to be a last minute rush for stands. Looking at the floor plan, only half the stands have been sold, and there are only 5 weeks to go.

EUROPEAN LAUNCH OF i-PULSE M8 SMT MOUNTER

Friday, May 1st, 2009

We are proud to have been the first European iPulse distributor to launch the new iPulse M8 SMT mounter. The M8 is a fully configurable flexible pick and place machine with an ultra-slim 1 metre wide profile, giving exceptional productivity per square metre of floorspace.

With 80 feeder positions, the M8 can be used as a stand alone machine or paired up with another M8 or a higher feeder count iPulse machine such as the M4 to provide a high capacity, ultra flexible component mounting line.

The new interchangeable feeder bank and matrix tray feeder system allows both the feeder bank and the tray feeder to be poitioned on either side of the machine, giving a further boost to line optimisation and machine up time.

The M8 is available with either 8 placement heads (19,000 cph IPC) or 4 heads (14,000 cph IPC) and will handle board sizes of 460 x 450mm or 510 x 450mm.
