SELECTIVE SOLDERING FOR CONTRACT ELECTRONIC MANUFACTURERS

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Much experience has been gained in supplying and installing selective soldering machines for the past 12 years and we at Blundell have trialled many different printed circuit board types on our demonstration machines.

Contract manufacturers need to be careful in their evaluation of a selective soldering machine. Some PCB’s are easy to selectively solder, others are not. A CEM who can expect to process many different PCB types for a variety of customers needs to allow for the most difficult PCB type when choosing a machine. They may start out thinking that a low cost machine will be suitable, only to find out later that a more sophisticated machine was needed to allow for future changes of product.

We at Blundell are able to offer a full range of selective soldering machines, from entry level to high end with moving solder pots and dual track conveyors. For a proper evaluation of your needs and expert advice contact us on 02476 210270 or email us at sales@blundell.co.uk.

DUAL TRACK SELECTIVE SOLDERING MACHINE

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

A frequent criticism of selective soldering is that it is slow in comparison to wave soldering. The new Series 3 VERSAFLOW selective soldering machine from Ersa overcomes this to a great extent by having a dual track conveyor which doubles production speed.  It is an in-line machine, and 2 x electro-dynamic mini wave solder pots double the soldering speed.

It will solder 2 x PCB’s of up to 225mm wide side by side, has improved topside preheating, improved board clamping and a return conveyor system so that the process can be fully automated. A shuttle system moves the PCB sideways when it reaches the end of the conveyor and returns it to the start of the line.  It can also have up to 4 fluxing heads.
